Toronto can soon add a new, hip neighbourhood to its profile of urban playgrounds once The Canary District is completed. Located at Front and Cherry Street, this community will be steps away from 18-acre Don River park as well as the Distillery District – one of Toronto’s most historical neighbourhoods.
Top Toronto developers Dundee Realty and Kilmer Van Nostrand have teamed together to create the urban dream that it is planned to become. It will boast promenades, parks, green space, restaurants, retail, sustainable design, and top of the line condos. Not to mention a brand new YMCA and a George Brown residence for incoming students. They highlight the notion that this neighbourhood does not promote exclusivity and is open to people of all backgrounds and financial strengths to enjoy everything there is to enjoy.
The theme of the district is focused on health and wellness with walkways and promenades built to promote walking rather than driving a vehicle to and fro. The Canary Park Condominiums honour Toronto’s Mandatory Green Building requirements that ties in with their healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle around which everything is centred. The condominiums will be the first completed phase of the district along with George Brown Residences and the YMCA.
Following the completion of these three components of the neighbourhoods, a market condominium and affordable rental housing will be added onto the repertoire. Future phases, not completely final, will also include market condominiums.
The Canary District promises a lot to its future residents from top notch restaurants and entertainment choices to quality outdoor living spaces.
